Bert and Bea: The Ultimate Winnipeg Winter Wedding

Planning a wedding is an invitation to a couple’s love story. The time we spend together allows me a glimpse into who they are as individuals, and the life they are building together. Sometimes, I am gifted with more than a glimpse and are welcomed into the journey that continues after the Big Day. This was my experience working with Bea and Bert, and I’m elated to feature their wedding as our very first blog post!
Thanks to Bea’s cousin, Bea and Bert met in June 2017. In January 2018, they flew to Ottawa as boyfriend and girlfriend, and came back engaged! We connected in April 2018, and so began the wedding planning journey. Our initial meeting was filled with laughter, as Bea and Bert reminisced and shared stories about their love story which involves salads, date nights at Stellas and raising foster kids. When I asked Bert what he envisioned for the day, he quickly responded with ‘I want Bea to have whatever she wants, but I get to choose the photographer!’. I knew then, that their day would be filled with so much romance, it would melt the snow away!
Bea and Bert’s Catholic ceremony took place at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Following the ceremony, they surprised their bridal party with pizza for lunch, while making their way to the Legislative Building for photos. Providing lunch for the bridal party (and vendors that are with couples for the whole day) is one of the tips that I cannot recommend enough. It makes everyone happy, and your photos look SO much better!
The reception took place at the classic Fort Garry Hotel, and they could not have chosen a better venue for their theme. This Winter Wedding was the perfect combination of romantic, classic, and elegant. Bea chose a colour palette of blush, creams, and hints of gold. The florals on the invitations designed by Just Create by MJ were brought to life with not 1, but 2 beautiful flower walls from Urbn Blossom. A pink peonies flower wall welcomed the guests, and served as the perfect photo op, while the classic white flower wall served as the backdrop for Bea and Bert’s sweetheart table. The 5-layer cake by Cake Studio featured elements to match the detailed applique patterns of lace in her wedding dress from Chantal’s Bridal. Bea and Bert opted for a floor plan that highlighted their family members and entourage on either side of their sweetheart table, and round tables filled the room with their guests. Blush linens from Planned Perfect were the perfect canvas for their guest tables. Surrounded by gold chiavari chairs, the guest tables also featured centrepieces of tall clear vases filled with beautiful flower arrangements from Beyond Flowers. Votive candles added just the right amount of romance to the room. Guests were also welcomed by a custom hand-lettered seating chart from Parasayo.
One of my favourite parts of a Wedding Day is the Room Reveal. This allows couples to have a moment for the two of them to take it all in, before the guests are welcomed into the reception space. It is also my favourite, because the look on a couple’s face when seeing the room for the first time is priceless! During the week of their wedding, Bea and Bert decided to add their initials on the dance floor. They also considered adding their date, but did not follow through. I knew that this was something they both wanted, and so I surprised them with it!
After some heartfelt speeches, the evening was highlighted by Filipino wedding traditions (the prosperity dance, and pantsing of the groom after retrieving the garter from the bride). This was followed by another surprise for Bea and Bert of a same-day-edit slideshow from AJ Batac Photography. The program also included a same-day-edit video from Dean Rover Films.
Looking back at these photos and videos has put a big smile on my face today. Bea and Bert, you were so wonderful to work with. Thank you for inviting me into your love story, and allowing me to be part of your journey. Wishing you all the love that life brings!

My wife and I hired Linger to be our coordinator – best decision ever! We learned early on that she goes above and beyond to make sure our wedding day is perfect and less stressful, as possible. She understood what we wanted and created the dream wedding we envisioned. Her experience with event/wedding planning was evident. She understand the intricacies of wedding business and wedding vendors that she even saved us some cash to put towards what matters most. She caught and fixed so much details that my wife and I missed. I am also positive that she put out so much small fires before we ever knew that there was a problem. She closely worked and coordinated with our vendors for the appropriate products and smooth delivery on the wedding day. It’s like she made everything fall on their proper place with her magic wand. Even with a big entourage, our friends and family, she was able to organize everyone for a smooth ceremony and reception. She has the artistic eye and initiative to adjust our requests to our vendors which resulted to so much surprises when we finally saw our reception venue. The most important part of working with Linger is that she made the wedding day OUR WEDDING DAY. A lot of our guests came back to us with praise that it was a great wedding ceremony and reception for them too. It will remain one of the happiest(and stress free) days of our lives. Our wedding day made an impact on us that we will cherish forever, all thanks to Linger.
